I teach all of the computer programming courses at Paint Branch as well as the course in website development. I am a graduate of Paint Branch High School myself (valedictorian class of 1996). The 2007-2008 school year will be my 6th year at Paint Branch, and before that I taught two years of 8th grade science at Francis Scott Key Middle School.
I am the sponsor of International Club and Computer Club at PBHS.
I have a B.S. in Biology and Secondary Education from Towson University, as well as an M.S. in Computer Science (also from Towson) and an M.S. in Information Systems from UMBC.
The little varsity letter you see to the left is actually the letter I earned by being part of the PBHS marching band, in which I played snare drum in my Freshman, Sophomore, and Junior year. I continue to enjoy music as my main hobby, and am the drummer and songwriter for local rock band Odd Girl Out.
Discovering Programming Concepts is our introductory programming course at PBHS. The language used in this course is Visual Basic (.NET).
Honors Programming 1 is another of our introductory programming classes at PBHS. It is often the first class a student will take if they wish to continue on track to our AP Computer Science offerings.
AP Computer Science 1 is the first of our two AP Computer Science courses. This course prepares students to take the A version of the AP Computer Science exam. Note: Both Java A and Java AB are taught during the same period and in the same classroom.
AP Computer Science 2 is the second of our two AP Computer Science courses. This course prepares students to take the AB version of the AP Computer Science exam. Students must have mastered all the concepts of Java A in order to enroll in Java AB. Note: Both Java A and Java AB are taught during the same period and in the same classroom.
Website Development at PBHS is focused on both the technologies/programming behind developing websites and web content, as well as an eye to the design methodoligies viewed as effective.
